Suu Kyi to meet PM Manmohan Singh today

As per latest report, Aung San Suu Kyi, the pro-democracy leader of Myanmar who is on land of India in New Delhi, will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday.

On her six day visit, Suu Kyi who will firstly arrive India since 25 years, will address the Nehru Memorial Lecture on the 123rd birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, first Prime Minister of India.

Suu’s visit is an effort from both nationwide to boost India-Myanmar relationship which has not well since past.

The chairperson of the National League of Democracy of Myanmar is a Nobel Prize winner who has left her half life under military house arrest. After a long struggle, her party won elections with supervision of Suu after being freed in 2010 by the junta.

Her life is also linked with India as was awarded by the Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding in 1992 and she was remained an Indian student of the Convent of Jesus and Mary School as when her mother served as ambassador of the country to India and Nepal.

During her visit, Suu Kyi will move towards Parliamentary, take a look over rural development projects, source said. It added that she will also visit the Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi, where she graduated with a degree in politics and after that she  flies to Bangalore and Andhra Pradesh.
