Former defence minister KC Pant dies

Latest reports have said that the former defence minister and economist KC Pant died at his residence in national capital today. K C Pant was 71-years-old.

Further, former defence minister K C Pant was cremated on Thursday afternoon.

KC Pant, Krishna Chandra Pant, was son of former Bharat Ratna Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant. He was member of Parliament for around 26 years since 1962.

KC Pant was also appointed as deputy chairman of the Planning Commission of India from 2000 to 2004 during the premiership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

K C Pant was married to Ila Pant and is survived by two sons.

Further, the former defence minister K C Pant was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1978 and was leader of the house during 1979-1980 .

He was Union minister with cabinet rank holding the portfolios of Defence, Finance, Steel and Heavy Engineering, Home Affairs, Electronics, Atomic Energy and Science and Technology.
