President Pranab Mukherjee greets nation on Guru Nanak Jayanti

According to latest news, the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday greeted the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birthday of Guru Nanak which will be celebrated on Wednesday.

The President said in his address, “The life and teachings of Guru Nanak are of profound significance to mankind. His message of love, harmony and brotherhood, his universal vision and compassion provide inspiration for all humanity.”

He said, “May each one of us imbibe his ideals and endeavor to apply his noble teachings in our daily lives.” Read more

Innocence of Muslims Protest 150x150 Pakistan blocks cell phones on prophet protest dayAccording to latest news, Pakistan has blocked cell phone service in big cities as a move to prevent militants from using mobile phone to detonate bombs during a national day of protest against an anti-Islam film made by a United States producer, Innocence of Muslims.

News have said that an interior ministry official told media that cell phones blocked in around 15 cities including major cities like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

The ministry official said that the service would be resumed at 6pm local time. Read more

Many victims died due to electrocution and in house collapses in Punjab and Sindh provinces.

A 12-year-old boy was killed when lightening struck in Rahim Yar Khan while two people were electrocuted in Multan. Read more

SM Krishna arrives in Lahore

SM Krishna 1 150x150 SM Krishna arrives in LahoreIndia’s External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna, who is on a three-day visit to Pakistan, arrived here Sunday amid tight security.

Krishna is scheduled to meet Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He will also interact with the civil society members.

He arrived in Lahore from Islamabad where he met his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar Saturday. An agreement on a liberalised visa regima was signed by him and Interior Minister Rehman Malik. Read more
