Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s assets around Rs.10.73 crore

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has assets worth around Rs.10.73 crore (around $2 million), nearly double from last year. Many of his cabinet colleagues, like Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel, are far richer than him, shows an updated list of assets of ministers posted on the PMO website.

Patel has declared assets of around Rs.52 crore and Pawar has declared property worth around Rs.22 crore.

Defence Minister A.K. Antony, known for his austere lifestyle, has assets worth only Rs.55 lakh. Read more

SM Krishna arrives in Lahore

SM Krishna 1 150x150 SM Krishna arrives in LahoreIndia’s External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna, who is on a three-day visit to Pakistan, arrived here Sunday amid tight security.

Krishna is scheduled to meet Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He will also interact with the civil society members.

He arrived in Lahore from Islamabad where he met his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar Saturday. An agreement on a liberalised visa regima was signed by him and Interior Minister Rehman Malik. Read more

Rahul Gandhi to visit Assam’s violence-hit areas

Rahul Gandhi 150x150 Rahul Gandhi to visit Assams violence hit areasCongress general secretary Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Kokrajhar, Chirang and Dhubri, the three violence-hit districts of Assam, Tuesday.

A senior leader of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) confirmed this Saturday and added that Congress leader Digvijay Singh is likely to accompany Rahul Gandhi on his visit.

Violence between Bodos and Bengali speaking Muslim settlers in the districts have so far killed over 90 people and displaced over four lakh people. Read more
