According to news agencies, Shiv Sena party sources on Monday said that party executive president Uddhav Thackeray will be formally elected as party president in the national executive meeting that will take place on January 23.
A source close to Uddhav said, “Uddhavji, who is now overseeing the work of Shiv Sena as executive president, will be elected as party president.”
Further, it is said that the final decision on this will would be taken in the national executive meeting scheduled on January 23 at the Shiv Sean Bhawan, the headquarters at Dadar in central Mumbai.
It is said that even if Uddhav Thackeray would be named as the new President of the party but late Bal Thackeray will be always called as Shiv Sena ‘pramukh’.
Source said, “Uddhavji had earlier stated that party ‘pramukh’ will be Balasaheb.”
In December last year, in an interview to ‘Saamana’, Uddhav said that no one can ever replace Bal Thackeray as Shiv Sena ‘Pramukh’.
Uddhav said, “Bal Thackeray will continue to remain the party supreme.”
Further, the party source said, “All the guidelines to elect Uddhav Thackeray as party president will be followed as per the directions from the Election Commission (EC).”
