Venezuela postponed Cancer-stricken President Chavez’s inauguration

Ailing Venezuela President Hugo Chavez’s health crisis are going to deepen as can not return home in time for his inauguration on Thursday, resulted to be delayed his inauguration.

With majority of votes of Pro-Chavez politicians, the decision of delaying inauguration has been approved, prompting complaints from opponents, the action as illegal.

Chavez was invoking a provision in the constitution will take the oath of office at a later date before the Supreme Court, allowed by constitution, as per government.

Diosdado Cabello and Chavez’s congressional allies, who hold a majority of seats in the National Assembly as President has also agreed with government’s proposal.

Worsening health of Chavez who battle with cancer and a related respiratory infection caused the depression among the Venezuelans as the condition of 58-year-old is reported to be too weak to return in time of his re-inauguration on 10 January.

Meanwhile, he would keep in a Cuba hospital undergoing his fourth cancer-related surgery.

Much dispute between government and opposition over whether the ailing Chavez’s swearing-in legally be postponed. Opponents demanded to rule on the constitutionality of the government’s decision or temporarily call by the opposition for the Supreme Court to intervene or leave in power.
