Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is ailing from a severe pulmonary (lung) infection that led to “respiratory deficiency”, according to Venezuela government.
Chavez’s condition required strict compliance with his medical treatment, Information Minister Ernesto Villegas said in a statement.
Reports said that government statement that describes Chavez’s lung infection as “severe”, raised the possibility of Chavez’s breathing with the assistance of a machine.
Chavez has re-elected as Venezuelan President earlier in October to another six-year term and still his sworn ceremony is due for a new term in less than a week.
On December 11, an ailing 58-year-old president, Chavez who had undergone four cancer linked surgeries, again attacked by cancer and operated with a cancer surgery in Cuba.
Some called it a “psychological war”, as per source report, but govt condemned it, expressing confidence in Chavez’s medical treatment.
Chavez’s growing illness is deepening his health crisis, however, no information about whether ailing leader will return from Cuba hospital ahead of the swearing-in set for Jan. 10 or what will happen if Chavez can’t begin his new term.
