Barfi wins Best Movie, Ranbir and Vidya grab Best Actor in Idea Filmfare Awards

Actor Ranbir Kapoor for his film ‘Barfi’ and actress Vidya Balan for her film ‘Kahaani’ has won the best actor awards at the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards.

The two films, quite different from typical Indian films- Anurag Basu’s directorial film Barfi!, Sujoy Ghosh directed Kahaani- as well as actor John Abraham’s first home production film ‘Vicky Donor’ has won hearts of audiences as well as many awards at 58th Filmfare awards held at Yash Raj Films studio at Andheri in Mumbai.

Chocolate boy Ranbir Kapoor grabs Best Actor awards for his performance in ‘Barfi’ and actress Vidya Balan won Best actor female awards for her film ‘Kahaani’.

However, the Best Debut Award (Female) was won by Ileana D’cruz for the film ‘Barfi’.

Best Director award went to ‘Kahaani’ director Sujoy Ghosh, and Best Background Score and Best Music Director awards went to Pritam for Barfi! Further, Best Sound Design award went to Sanjay Maurya and Allwin Rego for Kahaani.

‘Kahaani’ also won two major awards, Best Editing and Best Cinematography, went to Namrata Rao and Sethu, respectively.

Best Actor Supporting Role (Male) went to Annu Kapoor for his Dr. Chaddha in Vicky Donor. Juhi Chaturvedi won the Best Story Awards for ‘Vicky Donor’.

Lead actor of the same film Ayushmann Khurrana has won two awards – Best Debut (Male) and Best Playback Singer (Male) for the song Paani Da.

While, actress Anushka Sharma won Best Actor in Supporting Role (Female) award for Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Best Lyrics awards went to Gulzar for Challa from the same film.

In the 58th Idea Filmfare award for the Best Debut Director was bagged by Gauri Shinde for English Vinglish.

Further, Neeti Mohan won the RD Burman Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award went to late filmmaker Yash Chopra.

Madhuri Dixit Nene presented the award to the late filmmaker Yash Chopra’s wife, Pamela Chopra. Actress Madhuri Dixit had worked with late filmmaker in film ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai, which was amongst the most successful films of her career.

Others who came include Vidya Balan, Gauri Shinde with husband R Balki, Karan Johar, Irrfan Khan, Soojit Sircar, Chitrangada Singh, R Madhavan, Manoj Bajpayee, Kunal Kohli, Sonali Bendre with Goldie Behl, Yami Gautam, Ayushmaan Khurrana and David Dhawan.
