Bharti Airtel plans ZTE to run 4G network in Kolkata

This month may be Kolkata’s Airtel citizens experience 4G service technology as Bharti Airtel has reportedly said that it has tie up with ZTE Corporation to manage its 4G network in Kolkata that support video streaming and high-definition video conferencing.

Talking to reporters, Bharti Airtel CEO Sanjay Kapoor said, “According to industry estimates, by 2016, six per cent of all mobile connections will have 4G connection, which would create 36 per cent of the total mobile data traffic, thus paving way for the ensuing data revolution.”

The telecom maker ZTE will make possible for Airtel to go as per plan to allow its subscribers enjoy high-speed wireless internet access.

According to report, the telecom company Bharti Airtel had already applied for broadband wireless access (BWA) license with a total amount of Rs 3,314.36 crore in June 2010 for licensing in four Indian big states — Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kolkata and Punjab to offer bandwidth intensive applications.

However, 4G networks in Maharashtra have already been operated by Bharti Airtel as per its contract to Nokia Siemens Networks.

Describing best experience of Bharti Airtel’s network services, Kapoor said, The impending launch of 4G in the country will provide ultra high speed data access, driving fundamental changes in society at large.
