GM showcases new Chevrolet Sail sedan

General Motors India today launched the sedan version of its hatchback Sail U-VA, called Chevrolet Sail sedan.

GM’s latest Chevrolet Sail sedan is the second model launch in Indian market is available in both petrol and diesel variants.

“The eagerly anticipated Sail is an important addition to GM’s sedan line-up in India. It competes in one of the largest and fastest-growing segments,” Lowell Paddock, President and Managing Director, GM India told reporters while launching.

Built on a new platform designed for emerging markets, Chevrolet Sail will compete with Maruti Suzuki India’s Swift Dzire, Toyota’s Etios, Ford’s Classic and M&M’s Verito.

Targeting high sale in Indian market, the new car is manufactured on a new global passenger car platform from GM’s Chinese partner SAIC, sources said.

Promising best driving experience of Chevrolet the Sail sedan on Indian roads, GM  has landed car with introductory prices ranging between Rs. 4.99 lakh and Rs. 7.51 lakh (ex Showroom Delhi).

Sail petrol variant has equipped with 1.2L SMARTECH engine, delivering 86 PS power and 113 Nm torque and offered fuel efficiency with best mileage at 18.2 kmpl. The diesel is powered by a 1.3L SMARTECH mill, delivers 78 PS power, 205 Nm torque and a mileage of 22.1 kmpl.

Featuring best interior and exterior specs, New Sail offers lightweight aluminum alloy, graphite coated skirts, and lightweight pistons, dual cockpit design, large legroom and Audio system with Bluetooth, while ABS with EBD and airbags for safety.

Both petrol and diesel model are come in four variants- Sail Petrol version priced between Rs 4.99 lakhs to Rs. 6.41 lakh, while Sail Diesel between Rs 6.29 lakhs to Rs 7.51 lakhs.
