Golden Globes award has been announced on Monday and the best director award was given to ‘Ben Affleck’ for directing hostage-drama ‘Argo’.
The film ‘Agro’ has won the best motion picture drama award at the Golden Globes today, and Daniel Day Lewis was announced as the best actor in the drama category for Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln.
Meanwhile, the film ‘Argo’, based in the 1979 Iran hostage crisis, was nominated alongside Django Unchained, Life of Pi, Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty.
Daniel Day Lewis was awarded for his role as the 16th US president Abraham Lincoln in the Civil War set drama.
Further, the most attracting part of the night was a surprise appearance by former president Bill Clinton, who came to introduce the biopic.
While receiving the award, Daniel Day Lewis said, “Are you sure there’s room for another ex-president on the stage.”
The movie, which grabbed 12 nominations in the Oscars, was a favourite among critics at the Golden Globes also, but won only one award.
The best actress award in a motion picture drama was given to Jessica Chastain for the Katheryn Bigelow-directed Zero Dark Thirty, a film on the US manhunt of Osama bin Laden.
Jessica Chastain was nominated for the award along with Marion Cotillard (Rust and Bone), Helen Mirren (Hitchcock), Naomi Watts (The Impossible) and Rachel Weisz (The Deep Blue Sea) in the category.
Jessica Chastain said, “I’ve auditioned and fought and been on the sidelines for years. To be here now, it’s a beautiful moment.”
Further, Les Miserables won the Best musical or comedy award, in total winning three awards. The film was nominated alongside Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Moonrise Kingdom, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen and Silver Linings Playbook.
