Yuvraj Singh 1 150x150 ICC World Twenty20: India beats Pakistan by 8 wicketsOnce again, Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh helped India to record an 8-wickets win over arch-rivals Pakistan in the Super Eights match of ICC World Twenty20 match played at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

India easily chases the target of 129 runs in the 17th over of the match with Virat Kohli batting at unbeaten 78 runs and Yuvraj Singh 19 runs.

Earlier, Pakistani captain Mohammad Hafeez won the toss and elected to bat first. But, his decision didn’t worked, as Pakistan managed just 128 runs.

L Balaji was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 wickets in 3.4 overs.

Batting second, India lost opener Gautam Gambhir in the very first over. But, Virender Sehwag and Virat Kohli made a strong 2nd wicket partnership of 74 runs, Sehwag made 29 runs.

None of Pakistani bowler looked in good form, Kohli played superb cricket, he made 78 runs from 61 balls hitting 8 fours and two sixes.

Now, India will face South Africa in their next Super Eights match and Pakistan will play against Australia.

Pakistani captain Mohammad Hafeez said, “We just didn’t get the partnerships. It was a difficult pitch to bat on but Kohli was excellent. We were hoping to get him out and put pressure on the rest but we couldn’t do that. We need to improve our fielding. We still have a chance.”

Indian captain MS Dhoni said, “The players looked relaxed, we knew there was something in store. It’s good that Kohli is taking the responsibility, Viru batted well, we lost Gambhir early. I always felt that if you are desperate for a win you put more pressure on yourself. We didn’t think too far ahead of ourselves. Thanks to the crowd for showing up.”

Man-of-the-Match, Virat Kohli said, “The key is to stay as calm as possible. In the last game I thought a bit too much. The idea it to play 10-15 overs and the team benefits from it. It’s a slow wicket but better under lights. God’s been kind.”
