Indian Army to get 20 mini-UAVs for J&K operations

Terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir is a big deal for the central government of India, and Indian Army has issued an international tender for 20 mini UAVs for its formations deployed in J&K.

The tender was issued for 20 mini UAVs soon after the Indian Army and Navy issued global Request for Proposal [RFP] for 95 such UAVs.

Talking to media, an official from Indian Army said, “The mini UAVs will be used in counter terrorist operations by our troops for gathering intelligence and carrying out reconnaissance of particular areas.”

Further, it is said that tender has been issued by the Udhampur-based Northern Command of the Indian Army and the deal would cost less than Rs 50 Lakh.

The Indian Army highly recommends in its tender that the mini UAVs should less than 10kg in weight and should be able to fly at the altitude of around 1000 meter.

Army official said, “The UAVs should be able to remain airborne for at least 60 minutes.”

Further, same kind of UAVs would be used by the CRPF in the naxal hit are in Chhatisgarh and Jharkhand.
