Kiran Bedi in ‘small rape’ remark controversy

As per latest report, Kiran bedi, member and anti-corruption activist is in “small rape case” remark controversy, alleged of speaking about “small rape” cases on a public stage and for that National Commission for Women demanded an apology from her.

The former IPS officer while accusing the media at Ramdev’s fast stage at Ramlila Maidan of not covering the corruption issue against UPA ministers that Team Anna marked, she told in her remark, “Thankfully, the media does not discuss it (allegations) a single time. Ask yourself. On a small rape case or assault which a low ranking police official commits, how you would discuss it.”

Just after this statement, NCW termed her remark on rapes “distressing” and accused of showing a “feudal mentality”. They warned that the Commission will issue a notice against Bedi today after taking suo motu cognisance of the remark, as reports said.

“Ms Bedi is a woman and a former police officer. Sheshould have shown extreme sensitivity while talking about a serious crime like rape. There is nothing like a ‘small rape’. A rape is a rape and should be viewed as a crime against humanity,” Nirmala Samant Prabhavalkar, NCW member told reporters.

Dismissing all NCW allegations, former IPS officer called it “deliberate wrong news that is transforming across country, adding that she never said rape is small crime.
