More than hundreds of angry protesters of Libya attacked the Islamist Ansar al-Sharia’s compound in the center of the eastern city of Benghazi on Friday that United States blames for the assault on U.S. consulate last month.
This protest is the join movement of police, government troops and activists against militia Ansar al-Sharia , being responsible for amid anti- American protest, US consulate attack, killing of the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans to Libya.
At Libya’s rampant militias, a violent clash between protesters and militiamen erupted when demonstrators with slogans “Libya, Libya” and “No more al Qaeda!” marched Ansar al-Sharia’s main base, throwing down militia flags and trying to burn the building.
It has been reported that responding the demonstrators attacks, militiamen opened fire on them to disperse the crowd with their weapon , two protesters were shot in the leg, 4 killed while several people wounded, as per reports.
“We came as peaceful protesters. When we got there, they started shooting at us,” a student demonstrator told reporters, adding, “Five people were wounded beside me. They used 14.5 caliber machine guns.”
“This place is like the Bastille. This is where Gaddafi controlled Libya from, and then Ansar al-Sharia took it over. This is a turning point for the people of Benghazi,” another protester said
