According to latest news, Pakistan has blocked cell phone service in big cities as a move to prevent militants from using mobile phone to detonate bombs during a national day of protest against an anti-Islam film made by a United States producer, Innocence of Muslims.
News have said that an interior ministry official told media that cell phones blocked in around 15 cities including major cities like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
The ministry official said that the service would be resumed at 6pm local time.
The ministry official told media to keep his name secret as he is not allowed to talk to the media.
Meanwhile, the central government of Pakistan has announced a national holiday on Friday and urged people to peacefully protest a film that degrades Islam’s prophet Mohammad.
The US-film, Innocence of Muslims, resulted violent protests all the way through the Muslim world that have left at least 30 people dead, including two in Pakistan.
However, the video on YouTube, Innocence of Muslims’ is now banned in India as ordered by the central government.
