In yet a tragic, Patiala Mayor Jaspal Pardhan has resigned today, following the order of high command of SAD party.
The SAD order has come amid pressure from public as well as the opposition, as per reports, following murder charges of a woman against Pardhan registered by the Patiala police.
Sources said that Mayor has sent his resignation letter to party secretary and spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema after party president Sukhbir Singh Badal has asked Pardhan to resign on moral grounds.
Patiala Police has registered a case against Pardhan along with his second wife Paramjeet Kaur and her son Harpreet Singh with charges of murdering his daughter-in-law Parampreet Kaur.
Twist in the case is come up when Mayor denied that Paramjit was his wife, and claimed that she was his friend’s wife whom he had been helping.
The dead body of Parampreet was found at her in-laws’ house, and after that Paramjit and Harpreet have arrested on Sunday, but victim’s parent demanded for Pardhan’s arrest which is yet not fulfill.
Meanwhile, taking matter seriously Punjab government has called a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the murder case of Parampreet under inspector general of police (IGP) Shashi Prabha Diwedi.
The investigations have been started and the accused have taken into police remand for one day for questioning and would produce in court today.
