Protest turns voilent in Mumbai

Situation was out of control in Mumbai’s Azad Maidan when suddenly a protest called by more than hundreds in number, protesters against Assam’s earlier ethnic Budo-Muslim clashes moved in violent as agitators burned BEST buses and all nearby vehicles.

However, local shops at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus along with OB vans of media persons have been badly damaged due to this recent violent in Mumbai, but no causality is to be reported, reports said.

There is no report regarding why the situation turned into violent.

Source said, during riots, police opened fire in the air to make control over the protesters, even lathicharge also acted.

Over all routes lead to Azad Maidan were blocked and the government has deployed forces and RAF at the location along with police officials.

The CM of Assam Tarun Gogoi requested the protesters to be calm and maintain the balance in situation. “I will talk to the Maharashtra Chief Minister,” he told reporters.
