According to latest news, the Maharashtra govt has said in news that it has dropped sedition charges against cartoonist Aseem Trivedi.
Cartoonist Aseem Trivedi was arrested by Mumbai Police in September this year.
Reports have said that the Attorney General said in the Bombay High Court that the sedition charges against Aseem Trivedi were a ‘knee-jerk reaction’. To this, the Attorney General said Maharasthra will draft a circular on Section 124 A and this will be presented to the Chief Justice for further sanctions and then it will be sent to the police station. According to fresh news, the cartoonist Aseem Trivedi was released from the Arthur Road jail on Wednesday afternoon.
Talking to media after Aseem came out of the jail, he said that he is very happy with the support he received from all the people.
Aseem Trivedi said, “Although I’m free, the battle will continue. Whenever there is an infringement of legal rights, our fight will continue.” Read more
According to latest news, the member of Team Anna and India Against Corruption, Arvind Kejriwal has warned to launch a stir on Friday if the Mumbai police does not drop the sedition charge against cartoonist Aseem Trivedi.
Yesterday, social activist Arvind Kejriwal meets Aseem Trivedi in Arthur Road jail in Mumbai.
Talking to media, Kejriwal said, “I appreciate his courage. He has been fighting corruption for a year. He has fought for Lokpal.” Read more
