sachin rajya sabha 150x150 Delhi HC dismisses PIL challenging Sachin Tendulkars RS nominationAccording to latest news, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed PIL challenging Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s Rajya Sabha nomination.

A division bench of Chief Justice D Murugesan and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw dismissed the PIL which was filed by Ram Gopal Singh Sisodia, a former Delhi legislator, claiming that cricketer Sachin Tendulkar did not possess “special knowledge and practical experience,” a criterion prescribed under Article 80 of the Constitution for such nomination. Actor-politician Jaya Bachchan files Rajya Sabha nomination

The Bollywood actor-turned-politician Jaya Bachchan had filed her nomination for Rajya Sabha as a Samajwadi Party candidate on Saturday morning

Meanwhile, Jaya Bachchan was a former Rajya Sabha member. During the filing of her nomination for Rajya Sabha as a Samajwadi Party candidate, the newly elected Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and other party MLAs were present there.

Earlier, Jaya Bachchan was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2004 as Samajwadi Party candidate and completed her term in 2010. However, the actor-turned-politician refused re-nomination at that time.

For now, Jaya is the 6th Samajwadi Party candidate to file her nomination for the Upper House. Naresh Agarwal, Kiranmay Nanda, Darshan Singh Yadav, Brijbhushan Tiwari and Munawwar Saleem are the other and had already filled their nominations for the Rajya Sabha. Read more
