Censorship is the main headache for social networking sites, but now by resolving this problem the micro blogging site Twitter decide to tweets censoring data on country basis.
Making flexibility in its operations now Twitter is able to blocked the offensive content from users where is banned but this is restricted only country basis not globally. Former Site censored offensive contents globally or if Twitter removes the tweets then it disappear wholly.
It means the tweets of users that will be offensive or may hurt anyone sentiments then it censors for specific country but will be release to other countries. This will impose restrictions on self- expression.
As per source report, the company said in its blog post, “Starting today, we give ourselves the ability to reactively withhold content from users in a specific country-while keeping it available in the rest of the world. We will attempt to let the user know about censor tweets, and we will clearly mark when the content has been withhold. ”
However it would not be possible for Twitter to operate at all countries, but this step prove to balance local laws with free speaking.
Twitter is blocked in China, where microblogging alternatives known as weibo have surged in popularity in the past year.
At this time while Twitter enhancing its international expansion, this move of different ideas about free speech may be grabbing its security to handle contents that if succeed, it will prove profitable for it.
Moreover having tough competition with Facebook, Twitter has more than 100 million users and it also trying to add more languages like of Arabic, Farsi, Hebrew and Urdu.
