Today, the dead body of Vilasrao Deshmukh was brought by a special Indian Air Force aircraft to Latur district of Maharashtra, at his native Babhalgaon village where his funeral process held in evening.

The former Maharashtra Minister took his last breath on Tuesday in Chennai based Global hospital, arresting by a liver ailment and several organ failures including two kidneys dysfunctional.

More than thousands of his supporters and family members paid their last respect at the place where he was cremated by his eldest son and Latur district’s MLA, Amit.

According to source, all shops and businesses remained closed for the second consecutive day Wednesday and many people observed fast, giving their last respect to their loved leader.

In list of grieving ministers, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA-led Congress president Sonia Gandhi were top who presented in Deskmukh’s funeral, along with BJP president Nitin Gadkari, MNS chief Raj Thackeray and several other party leaders made their presence at the last time of the departed leader.

Reports said, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, Sharad Pawar, Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan, Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. Several Bollywood celebrities were also attended the funeral paying their tearful mourn.

Deshmukh’s political journey was started four decades ago, when he became his native village Babhalgaon’s sarpanch, performed his job very well and after that posted as Maharashtra chief minister twice.
