In the YouTube history, it is for the first time that any video has marked on the Google-owned video-sharing site.
The most popular South Korean Viral star, rapper-singer PSY’s video “Gangnam Style” on Friday became the most viewing video with 1 billion views records.
“Gangnam Style” video’s stylish goofy-dance-driven moves spawned a pop culture movement in the US among athletes and celebrities. The Indian Bollywood Super Star , Salman khan is one of the biggest fan of Gangnam Style.
The video hit its record by averaging more than 200 million views per month.
After uploaded on July 15 this year, within 5 months, Gangnam video passed YouTube previous hits Justin Bieber’s “Baby”, Jennifer Lopez’s “On the Floor”, and the venerable “Charlie Bit My Finger”.
According to reports, the viral video, Gangnam Style itself has sold less than 100,000 copies in South Korea, the lead single on PSY’s sixth K-pop album, the six-track PSY 6, Part 1. However, next Part 2 is set for release in March.
