According to latest news related to the fire crackers factory, six people have been arrested by the state police in connection with it.

Around 38 people lost their lives in the fire accident that broke out yesterday in fire cracker factory, Om Shakthi Fireworks, located in Tamil Nadu’s Sivakasi town.

Talking to media, a police official from Virudhunagar district said, “Six people have been arrested in connection with the firecracker unit accident. The arrests include Paul Pandi who had taken the property on lease where he operated the cracker unit.”

Earlier, it was said in news that 20 people died in the incident but now the toll reached 38, one of the biggest and deadliest fire accident in the city.

It is said that 75 people were injured in the fire accident and they were rushed to the nearby hospital for treatments.

The local police said that most of the dead and injured were bystanders hit by flying stones and other materials owing to the blasts at various sheds where the crackers were made.

Giving brief information about the incident to media, an official said, “So powerful was the blast that more than 40 of the 48 sheds in the fireworks unit in Sivakasi were reduced to rubble in no time.”

He said, “The disaster occurred around 12.30 pm, catching those working there as well as others unawares.”

The complete crackers factor was gutted in fire because a huge amount of chemicals and other raw materials were placed in the store room, which caught fire.
