As per latest cricket news, the South African captain AB de Villiers will now miss the remaining ODIs against new Zealand as he was banned from playing two ODIs by ICC for slow over rate.
In a statement issued by ICC on Sunday said, “”(Match referee) David Boon… imposed the suspension after the Proteas were ruled to be six overs short of their target at the end of the match when time allowances were taken into consideration.”
Further, the ICC also announced that if the cricketer found guilty of the same offense in coming 12 months, he souled have to face a ban of eight ODIs or four Tests.
Moreover, the slow over rate also costs high for the other teammates and South Africa lost the match by one wicket to New Zealand.
Now, Vice-captain Hashim Amla will lead the South Africa team in the coming two ODIs played at Kimberley (Tuesday) and Potchefstroom (Friday).
South Africa has another option in Faf du Plessis, who led the Twenty20 team against New Zealand.
