In Lok Sabha, while assembly augmenting over home minister P Chidambaram’s statement in the Aircel-Maxis deal on Friday, new one issue rose of a cartoon picture of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar printed in an NCERT textbook.
The Union HRD Minister, Kapil Sibal promised to remove such objectionable caricature from the NCERT textbooks next year.
Being apologized, Sibal said, “The text book that contains this cartoon will not be distributed further. We have great respect for Baba Saheb Ambedkar. There cannot be any attempt to malign his image.”
At the same time while all Dalit MPs angered and protested in Lok Sabha over the row, Kapil ensured that the issue that came into notice in April “is not a political issue. I personally apologise to the people on the matter though I was not involved and not the minister in 2006 when the cartoon came in the books. We have no intention to hurt the sentiments of any community.”
The issue of cartoon picture of Dalit icon was raised in Parliament while BJP members Yashwant Sinha with his allies were protesting against Chidambaram reading out his son Karti’s statement over the Aircel-Maxis issue on Thursday.
At the same time while Parliamentary affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal was stating his statement on Aircel-Maxis row, calling “irresponsible and reckless” allegations against the home minister, Thirumaa Valavan Thol (VCK) waving placards of publishing cartoons.

However within less than one hour, the issue became the controversial row that, opposition members demanded Kapil Sibal’s resignation. NCERT advisors Yogendra Yadav and Suhas Palshikar who are the chief advisors for political science at the NCERT are too resigned on Friday in wake of taking strict actions over uprising the controversial matter.
