Assad proposes new Syria peace initiative

Syria President Bashar al-Assad called today a new peace initiative to end the 21-month-old uprising included a national mobilization plan while delivering a TV address.

Describing opponents as terrorists and agents of foreign powers, Assad said to exit Western funding without negotiate with them, set up a new government, Constitution and referendum to decide the fate of the nation.

With an outlined plan of peace, he delivered his first speech at the Opera House in central Damascus to the nation, his first since June 2012.

There is a complete rejection of rebels, opponents and all who have betrayed Syria, whom Assad called “Enemies of God”, reports said.

During his speech, he completely denied international demands for his exit and agreed a national dialogue conference with the opposition forces.

Expressing a deep sadness over the massive violence during clashes in Syria, Syrian Leader addressed supporters, “The nation is for all and we all must protect it.”

As per reports, since civil war in Syria, about 60,000 people have been killed in the fighting. For loss of lives, Assad alleged foreign-backed agenda, not an uprising of his ruling.
