The Shiv Sainiks in talks with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has finally agreed to remove the temporary memorial structure of their late leader, party founder Bal Thackeray at Shivaji Park, where Thackeray was cremated.
Shiv Sena with their strategic plan all set to table the proposal for their late leader’s memorial at Shivaji Park at next meeting, an attempt to one step ahead of municipal commissioner Sitaram Kunte for his approval.
“It is expected that the proposal, penned by leader of the House in the BMC Yashodhar Phanse on Monday, will be discussed at the group leaders meeting on Tuesday. Kunte will be present at the meeting and the proposal needs his final consent. So, it may happen that the commissioner will have to use his discretionary powers and endorse the memorial at Shivaji Park,” a senior Sena leader told reporters.
Large number of Shiv Sainiks from Mumbai, Thane and other places had come to Shivaji Park, for their late Chief Bal Thackeray. The plan to shift the memorial to another location has come after a notice issued from the BMC in this regard, said that the Shivaji Park was given to Shiv Sena just for the cremation of Bal Thackeray.
The work to shift the memorial had begun on Monday evening after a stern message of Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan had also sent to the Shiv Sena to vacate the Park.
