The central government has announced to ban bulk SMS and MMS messages for next 15 days in the country in view of the migration of people from the northeast cities such as Bangalore, Pune, and now Hayderabad, after rumours that they would be attacked.
While talking to media, Union Home Secretary, Mr. R K Singh said, “We will detect those who are spreading rumours. Those responsible for the exodus from Bangalore will not go scot free.” Read more
Recent reports have said that the central government has decided to block over 51,000 telephone numbers of such users who had not registered themselves as telemarketer but were involved in such activity.
It is said that notice have been issued to around 88,300 subscribers who were reported under it. The statement was made by Minister of State for Communications and IT, Milind Deora said in a written reply to Rajya Sabha. Read more
Two telcos, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications are trying to be spare over the fall out of toll-free calls routing, both are disagree, accusing each other with violation of an agreement signed in 2007.

Clearing the stand over 2 G spectrum, the Cabinet set base price at Rs 14,000 crore for airwaves in the much controversial coming spectrum auctions, a step towards opposing mobile phone companies’ demand of 80% reduction from the base price fixed by TRAI regulator.
“The Cabinet approved the reserve price of Rs 14,000 crore for 5 MHz pan India in 1800 MHz band. The Cabinet also approved the recommendation of Empowered Group of Ministers for reserve price for 800 MHz band at 1.3 times that of 1800 MHz band. Read more
