Congress President Sonia Gandhi to visit Karnataka today

As per latest news, Congress President Sonia Gandhi will be on a one day tour to Karnataka today, to strip up congress party workers for coming Assembly Elections.

This would be Sonia Gandhi’s 2nd visit to Karnataka this year. She will visit the coastal town of Mangalore and will also address prominent leaders of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district and party workers.

Talking to media, Congress sources said Sonia Gandhi will be present at the opening of the ‘Kudroli Gokarnatha Temple Centenary celebrations’ and Mangalore Dasara festivities.

She will arrive Karnataka by a special aircraft by 4pm and return to New Delhi by the evening.

Earlier in April this year, Sonia Gandhi visited the state to take part in the Guruvandana programme and birthday celebrations of centenarian Sri Shivakumara Swamiji, the pontiff of Siddaganga mutt in Tumkur.

Sonia’s visit to Karnataka has much significance as Congress is trying to re-establish their popularity here, which has now become a BJP stronghold.

Congress sources said, “KPCC President G Parameshwara and Opposition leader in the assembly Siddaramaiah will be brief Sonia Gandhi on the present political scene in Karnataka, Cauvery issue and also the internal bickerings in the ruling BJP.”
