Bibi Jagir Kaur 300x280 Court orders 5–years jail to Bibi Jagir Kaur for conspiracy in daughters deathIn a biggest crack-down in the case of Bibi Jagir Kaur, Senior Punjab minister was today found guilty by a Patiala court of conspiracy in the death of her own daughter, harpreet Kaur, in April 2000.

It is said in reports that Jagir Kaur was sentenced to 5-years rigorous imprisonment. Though, the Patiala court dropped murder charges against Bibi Jagir Kaur.

The much talked Punjab minister, Bibi Jagir Kaur was appointed in the state as the minister for rural water supply and sanitation and defence services. She was convicted by the special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Patiala.

Patiala city is already in news due to Balwant Singh Rajoana, the main accused in the killing of former chief minister Beant Singh.

Jagir Kaur is the only woman minister Badal cabinet is a former president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).

Jagir Kaur has been found guilty under various sections of the Indian Penal Code — Section 120-B (conspiracy), 313 (causing miscarriage without woman’s consent), 344 (wrongful confinement for 10 days or more) and 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent of secretly and wrongfully to confine person).

On the other hand, the Patiala Court freed Jagir Kaur from the charges of murder (Section 302), other who had been accused by the CBI.

The other three main accused in this case were, Dalwinder Dhesi, Paramjit Singh and Nishan Singh, have absolved of murder but convicted in the murder conspiracy.

Bibi Jagir Kaur’s daughter Harpreet Kaur had died under mysterious conditions April 20, 2000, following which she was cremated quickly by the family members.

Reports have said that Harpreet Kaur had to face anger of her family and her mother because she secretly married a youth, Kamaljit Singh, who belonged to a lower caste.

Bibi Jagir Kaur was inducted as a cabinet minister March 14.
