The former army chief VK Singh and Baba Ramdev were trying to march towards India Gate, the epicentre of protests against gangrape of a young girl last Sunday.

VK Singh demanded strong punishment for the accused of the gang-rape, he said, “The primary duty of the police is to ensure safety. They should be punished because they have failed. Dumping responsibilities and blaming each other will not work.”

However, as soon as Baba Ramdev and VK Singh got down from the dais, Delhi police cordoned off the area and the protesters sat at the spot.

But, protesters walked towards the India Gate and broke down the barricades.

Baba Ramdev said, “Government should set up fast track courts and punish all the rapists. We want death penalty for all the accused.”

Further, talking about the disturbing aspect of the brutal rape, VK Singh said, “There is something seriously wrong with the present system. Nothing will improve unless we change the system itself.”
