Major fire broke out at Maharashtra Mantralaya building

Just at 3 pm of this afternoon, the whole Mantralaya building located at Mumbai‘s plush Nariman Point has stuck out with fire, at least 8 reported to be injured while two of them seriously wounded rushed in local hospital.

Reports suggested that as soon as the fire blow, the Emergency teams called and they are still fighting a fire with 25 fire tenders at the Maharashtra‘s state secretariat. Around 60-70 per cent situation is under control, but still it will take three to four hours to make complete control.

Atleast 200-300 people were inside the seven-storey building, along with Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan whose office is located at the sixth floor. While the Chief Minister has rescued, but his and Deputy Chief Minister’s offices have been completely destroyed, as source said.

According to sources, the Urban Development Department, embroiled in a controversy over the Adarsh scam was the worst damaged.

Fire spread to the NCP minister Babanrao Pachpute’s office, on the fourth floor where, files relating to the Adarsh scam are located, but State forest minister Patang Rao ensured reporters, “I am confident that all the important files will be safe and intact.”

To rescue the people, the government has asked Marine commandos, Navy choppers along with Force One, Maharashtra’s elite security force, and city police’s Quick Response Team to immediately rush at the site.

However, no harmful causalities have been reported, though 25 have been trapped in the building and efforts to rescue them are on. 2500 employees and 3000 public have been rescued from the building within 30 minutes, Patang Rao Kadam, Forest Minister, told reporters.

No exact cause has been determined till yet, but the Maharashtra government ordered to block all the routes of passing to the Mantralaya, in wake to make control over the aggressive crowd in Mumbai.
