Fire in North Block, situation under control

Just two days after fired on Mumbai Mantralaya, second fire blow in New Delhi at home ministry in North Block today, which houses the Home and Finance Ministries along with other several key ministries.

The fire spread in the second floor of North Block in less than an hour, but immediately brought under control by calling fire tenders, reports said.

It has been said that around seven fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames as soon as the fire reached to Home Minister P Chidambaram‘s office.

Like Manatralaya’s fire whose is likely to take atleast three months to work properly, there is no information about cause of the fire in North Block, but no causality has reported.

Reasoning due to minor in nature, Delhi Fire Services Director, AK Sharma told reporters “Cannot confirm the cause of the fire yet. Being a holiday, only security personnel were in the building. So, human intervention can be ruled out.”

Beside, Home secretary RK Singh also confirmed media; there was absolutely no damage to any files.

However, the fire tenders doused the fire after just reach to the ventilator shaft of one room on the second floor of the building and reduce the chances of destruction of files.
