Maoists to release Jhina Hikaka on Thursday: Lawyer

Odisha legislator Jhina Hikaka, MLA of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA has been in Maoist hostage for a month, abducted from Laxmipur in Koraput on March 24, will be free by 10 am on Thursday, a source says.

Report says that 37-year-old Hikaka who has been asked to quit MLA post after release, is likely to be presented in the Maoists‘ ‘people’s court’ Wednesday where his fate would be decided.

A group of rebels will be handed over him to Nihar Ranjan Patnaik and his wife in Narayanpatna area of the district

Although, yet there is no official information regarding this release and not any message or audio tape released by the rebels.

But, it has said that this deal would be based on the release of Gananath Patra, the ailing 70-year-old CMAS (Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh) advisor who has been in Koraput jail for nearly two years.

This is really a big relief for govt. at this time when Maoist deadline of 25 April to government of Odisha and the Chhattisgarh has ended today.
