NCTC, the brain-child of P. Chidambaram is being a big bomb for Parliamentary Constitution that will be blast at any time.
As expressing a huge opposition from NON Congress parties over the operationalisation of NCTC, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal demanded for restructuring Constitution.
During the CMs’ conference on Saturday, Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Narender Modi, Prem Kumar Dhuman, Nitish Kumar and J. Jailalita, all supported Mr. Badal, claiming that the Centre is trying to keeping power left out from the hands of state govt. by proposing the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC).
After a joint discussion, they decided a new constituent assembly be formed to restructure the Constitution and make it ”genuinely federal’.
“Time has come to take a second look at the Constitution to bring it in tune with the emerging realities and needs of the changing times. We had been advocating that the entire issue of Center-state relations needs to be viewed in the context of federal principle,” Mr. Badal stated in a statement.
Main reason amongst them for opposing is the Centre has decided formation of NCTC anti terrorism hub without consulting the Inter State Council or chief ministers of the states.
Further added in his statement, Mr. Badal said that rather concentrate on poverty, illiteracy and unemployment, the Centre should consult NCTC with the chief ministers of the states and amend the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the enactment of the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008, to curb terrorism.
