Developing a co-friendly relationship, now Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria are supported by India to be a “free from Polio” disease as part of the global eradication programme.
During last one year, there is no case registered over Polio disease or registering a zero-polio period, India is being removed from the World Health Organization’s list of countries plagued by the crippling disease.
On Saturday at the concluding day of the 2-day Polio Summit organised by the health ministry and Rotary International in New Delhi, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “I assure that India will be most willing to extend all possible support and effort needed for global elimination of polio. We are with Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Nigeria in the eradication of polio.”
Marked a great success in fight with Polio disease by the Pulse Polio Programme, India has spent more than Rs.12,000 crore ahead of introducing bivalent polio vaccine (bOPV) in January 2010.
