Woman alleges raped during train loot

In yet another gangrape case, a woman was raped by a gang armed with guns and choppers looted a passenger train in the Ahmedpur-Katwa narrow gauge section of Eastern Railway on Saturday evening and raped a woman who tried to put up a resistance.

It was said in reports that the woman, a widow, told the police officials that she was dragged out of his compartment and was raped by 5 men by the railway tracks.

In the meantime, the Katwa SDPO and inspector-incharge of Ketugram has taken the woman for further investigation as well as medical tests when last told to media by the police department. However, no FIR has been registered yet by the police. Read more

A new telecom policy will have some norms of a uniform licence fee and making spectrum tradable at market-linked rates, to which the government should move with some exceptions in the right direction.

The policy has dealt with some recommendations of the sector regulator like restriction on 3G Spectrum sharing is one such area. As per key policy measures, telcos operating will be allowed to share 2G spectrum and all future allocation of airwaves will only be through auctions. Fire in Kolkata Hospital, 20 feared dead

In Kolkata at the place of Dhakuria, there had been a major incident come into existence in the private hospital.

At least around 40 patients along with some doctors and nurses were caught in fire inside the hospital early this morning.

The police and fire brigade sources said the fire which was broke out in the electrical department in the basement of the AMRI hospital, spread to the first and second floors, trapping patients, with the fire brigade called in at 4:00 am.

While fire brigades called, the police and firemen put inside from the window panes to safely move out the patients from the billowing fire and tried to stop the smoke that engulfed the building.

Such tremendous incident was really out of control which was inside the ICU, ICCU, ITU and Critical Care units of the hospital. But the fire men were continuously trying to hold the situation .they were trying to locate oxygen cylinders on the floors, where chances of fire explosion were increased. Read more
