As per the latest Cricket Updates, the new talent from India, Umesh Yadav was feeling nervous while bowling against big guns like Ricky Ponting, but it was Sachin Tendulkar whose advice hugely helped his confidence as he took three important wickets on the first day of the Boxing Day Test on Monday.
Umesh Yadav was seen getting a lot of support from master blaster at mid-off or mid-on, and the bowler told media that Sachin Tendulkar told him to bowl fuller-length deliveries to get wickets.
Talking to media, after the end of day one’s play, the bowler said, “Even against West Indies, at mid off or mid-on, he just boosts my confidence. He does not tell me anything particular, just asks me to bowl in my areas. He told me that in India you can get away by bowling back-of-length stuff. Here in Australia, it’s important to bowl a fuller length.”
He said that he is very happy that he managed to take three wickets today, but he is disappointed as well as he gave away too many runs.
Yadav took 3 wickets for 96 runs, he said, “I took wickets but also gave away far too many runs. So I’m happy and I’m not happy as well.” Read more
