The fresh news, a special CBI court on Friday produced the bail to all five businessmen who were allegedly charged of criminal conspiracy to cheat the government in connection with a case arising out of the 2G spectrum licensing scandal.
Five business men are- billionaire Ravi Ruia and Anshuman Ruia from the Essar group, Loop Telecom’s I P Khaitan and Kiran Khaitan and Essar group director Vikash Saraf. Read more
The Patiala House Court in Delhi has granted Loop Telecom and Essar Group promoters’ exemption from personal appearance after their lawyers appeared in place of them before the court today in connection with the 2G case.
It is of second time that the promoters of Loop and Essar Group were not appeared before court for hearing.
Hesitating to be appearing in court, Ravi Ruia and Anshuman Ruia, promoters of Essar, I P Khaitan and Kiran Khaitan, promoters of Loop Telecom, and Vikas Saraf, Director (Strategy and Planning), Essar, are again issued summons for personal appearance by the court. Read more
Today Essar Group and Loop Telecom promoters to whom CBI accused and filed a charge sheet under the 2G spectrum scam, will be appear before a special CBI court on basis of trial issued by the court.
Ravikant Ruia and Anshuman Ruia are the Essar Group’s promoters and along with them Loop Telecom promoter Kiran Khaitan, I P Khaitan and Strategy and Planning director of Essar Group Vikas Saraf , all names had been listed in the third chargesheet filed by CBI in 2G scam on 12 December last year. After alleged by CBI in 2G Scam, Ravi Ruia, chairman of Essar Energy, now has maed an announcement to step down from his post.
The Essar Group Company release a report and said that The decision was taken voluntarily following allegations by India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that Ruia, certain other executives of the Essar Group, and Essar Teleholdings Limited.
Now Ruia will continue as a director of the London-listed Essar Energy, part of the FTSE 100 benchmark index. The company was listed in 2009.
The company added in release, “There are no charges of bribery or corruption or collusion with public servants (as compared to the other prosecutions being pursued in the 2G spectrum scam).” Read more
