Republican U.S. presidential nomination is on a great tensed form as Romney who won easily in his home state, secured a close victory in Ohio but failed to put a knockout blow against rival Rick Santorum on “Super Tuesday”.
Santorum and Romney both were in the race of the party’s establishment by raising the prospect of a drawn-out battle for the Republican presidential nomination, with Ohio the biggest prize among 10 states holding contests on Tuesday.
But after announcing the results, Romney underscored with his continued inability to win over large swathes of the Republican base.
Even Romney won past five of the 10 state contests, carried momentum into “Super Tuesday,” and held a narrow lead in Ohio, as he needed Some 419 of the 1,144 delegates to win the party’s nomination.
