Telugu comedian Sutti Velu passed away

The well known comedian and character artiste of the Telugu films, Sutti Velu, died at a Chennai hospital in the wee hours on Sunday.

Sutti Velu was 65-years-old and survived by wife and four children. The veteran comedian was not feeling well for some time undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai.

It is said in reports that the actor took his last breath at around 3:30 am.

He was born on August 7, 1947, his real name was ‘Kurumuddali Lakshmi Narasimha Rao’, Sutti Velu was his screen name. He started theater at the age of seven and later he started his film career in 1980 by director Jandhyala in the film Mudda Mandaram.

He was one of the most popular comedians in Telugu film and he worked in more than 200 films. His character ‘Sutti’ in a film, Nalugu Sthambalata, in 1982 which became so popular and from then people started calling him ‘Sutti Velu’.

He received the Nandi Award for best supporting actor in the film Vandemataram in 1985. His performance in film ‘Pratighatana’ was also very popular.

He also proved his acting skill with his role in a TV serial named as ‘Anando Brahma’.

Sutti Velu’s death is like a big set-back to Tollywood and Kollywood.
