Gen Liang Guang 150x150 Chinese Defence Minister’s ‘unusual gift’ to IAF PilotsAccording to latest news, in a very unusual way the Chinese Defence Minister Gen Liang Guang Lie gave ‘unusual gift’ to two Indian Air Force pilots — Rs one lakh in cash.

Reports have said that the two IAF pilots were given envelops and when they opened it, they found a case of Rs one lakh. They flew the Chinese Defence Minister by a special IAF aircraft from Mumbai to Delhi.

The pilots told their officials that after seeing off Gen Liang Guang Lie, when they checked the envelops, they found ‘unusual gift’ of Rs One lakh cash in Indian currency.

Talking to media, a source said, “The Captain of the aircraft then informed the Air Headquarters about the ‘gift’ and it was decided that the money would be deposited in the Government depository (toshakhana).”

However, the IAF officials said that the money could not be returned because of sensitivities involved in it.

It is said by IAF officials that when Indian VIPs travel in these aircraft they gift ties and other small gifts as a symbol of thanks to the crew of aircraft.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Defence Minister arrived in India for his five day India visit.

The Chinese Minister thanked Indian Defence Minister A K Antony for the agreement made by India for him and his staff.
