DLF IPL 2012: Delhi Daredevils won by 9 wickets

The Delhi Daredevils [DD] has once again grabbed the top position of the Indian Premier League [IPL] 2012 points table by beating Deccan Chargers [DC] by 9 wickets in the match Played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad 10 May 2012 – day/night (20-over match)

Earlier, Deccan Chargers skipper Kumar Sangakkara has won the toss and elected to bat first. They started well though lost opener Harris with just 28 runs on the board. But, in-form S Dhawan played nicely and hit 84 runs from just 49 balls with nine fours and five big sixes.

He was well supported by C White, who hits 65 runs from 40 balls with seven fours and three big sixes. Deccan Chargers [DC] made 187 runs in their 20 overs play.

Batting second, Delhi Daredevils [DD] lost skipper Virender Sehwag on the third ball of the innings, but David Warner and Ojha played superbly and led their team to the top position in the DLF IPL 2012.

David Warner hits 109 not out from 54 balls with ten fours and seven sixes. And Ojah made valuable 64 runs facing 46 balls with two fours and five sixes.

Delhi Daredevils [DD] skipper Virender Sehwag said, “We knew we had the batting line-up to chase the target, it was going to be a difficult chase but Warner was brilliant. I was trying to hit it over long-on but failed to read the spin. Warner took the opportunity well. I like to see the ball and hit it, for me it is simple cricket, does not matter whichever format it is.”

Deccan Chargers skipper Kumar Sangakkara said, “He not only hit it hard, but very well too, he took it away from us. It was a tough pitch for us, to change from the previous wicket to this one. You do get pumped up sometimes, you need to keep calm and not let too much adrenaline through, which may not help sometimes.”

Dave Warner is the Man-of the-Match.

Dave Warner said, “It is a great feeling, we are at the top of the points table and credit to the bowlers as well for the way they have bowled in this tournament. We knew that it was going to move around and we tried to take that away from them by going after the bowling very early. I have not lifted any weights in the gym for the last 12 months!”
