ISI is active in Assam: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi

In fresh reports it was said by the respected Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi that the Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is active in the Assam state and was helping the Maoists there.

The Assam Chief Minister was talking to media after a security review meeting with Union home minister P Chidambaram on Sunday. While talking to media, the CM Gogoi said, “The Maoists are spreading in Assam. The ISI has also joined hands with them.”

Further, addressing to media, the Assam CH said that the ISI was also trying to get its nose in the activities of numberless militant activities of the state and in the same way, the Maoists recognized links with the rebel groups.

Tarun Gogoi said, “So, we discussed (in the meeting) how we can deal with the situation.”

Meanwhile, a senior police official told media that the Pakistan secret agency ISI also established links with the rebels.

ADG of Assam police Khagen Sarma said, “The ISI is providing them with logistical support.”

Recently, the Maoists have appeared as a potential risk to the national as well as state’s security. Assam Ch further added, “Our government was taking measures to tackle the menace.”
