The most important point for the state as well as center government of India is the security and in addition to this the honorable union Home Minister P. Chidambaram has inaugurated the National Security guard (NSG) hub, but the respected West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee missed the opening of the event.
During the opening of the NSG hub the home minister said that the government of India is happy to work with the state on security.
During his speech on the launch of NSG hub, Chidambaram said, “Internal security is a very complex issue. The security of the country is a shared responsibility. It is a responsibility that is shared by the central government and the state governments.”
On the other hand, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, whose Trinamool Congress has joint venture with the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA), had earlier written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking the central government to “review and withdraw” the managerial order on the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), which was established on March 1 after a cabinet nod last month.
In all, around 8 chief ministers of states stand against the proposed counter-terrorism centre Friday, with a point that it is an infringement of the powers of the state.
Answering to this, Mr. Chidambaram said, “We are happy to work with the new government of West Bengal. The people of West Bengal will greatly appreciate and acknowledge that the Naxal problem that was affecting (the state) is substantially under control…”
