Low intensity earthquake hits Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh

According to latest news, a low intensity earthquake hit border regions of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh on Thursday morning.

However, there is no report of loss of life or property with the quake. Short shocks of earthquake were reported at around 8.03am in Sarguja division of Chhattisgarh and Jabalpur-Umaria-Shahdol area of Madhya Pradesh.

The centre of the earthquake was about 150 kms from Jabalpur division, Raipur. The officials of MET office director ML Sahu told media that the earthquake was of magnitude 5 on the Richter scale.

Talking to media, a scientist in-charge of observatory at Bargi hills near Jabalpur said, “It appears to be a low intensity earthquake with its epicentre nearly 150 kms away from Jabalpur.”

Further, the Shahdol report said the earthquake was felt for around 20-30 seconds, which forced people to come out of their house due to panic in Shahdol-Annoppur area.
