The God of cricket whose hands were covered with only bats and gloves and spent his journey around the ground, is now ready to act as Politician.
Yes, we are talking about Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar who set to play the new innings in Parliament as a member of Rajya Sabha.
On Monday in the chamber of Chairman Hamid Ansari, Tendulkar took his oath in Hindi where his wife Anjali Tendulkar was also present.
Mark the History in the cricket sport, Tendulkar becomes the first cricketer to be nominated for Rajya Sabha’s member for serving 6 years.
The nominations were of three top profiles in April for the Upper House of the Parliament include Sachin Tendulkar, 39- cricketer, Rekha, 57- Bollywood actress and Anu Aga, 70- the businesswoman and social worker.
While, three nominations had approved by President Pratibha Patil on the Prime Minister’s recommendations and two, Rekha and Aga were take their oath in May, 2012.
According to the source, Sachine could not take oath at that time because of his IPL commitments that was over on May 27th, but now finally cricket legend is ready for sworn as an Upper House member.
Tendulkar who was presented with a shawl is the second sportsperson in the House after former hockey captain Dilip Tirkey.
From his sudden move to Politics, Sachine shocked to the whole world, being disappointed much to the Indian cricket. Being surprised, former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar said, “I was shocked. I had no idea that he had this kind of inclination.”
Describing Sachine’s decision a big earlier one, another cricketer Vinod Kambali told reporters, “There is a lot of cricket in Sachine. He has taken the decision a bit early, but it’s his choice.”
Congratulating him for his new journey, Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said,”This (Rajya Sabha) is a new avenue for him and “I would like to wish him all the very best”. He further added that he was sure “he ( sachine) will do well and contribute there also.”
