Salman Rushdie, the writer of the novel “The Satanic Verses” in which irrelevant content were published, visit to India for Jaipur Literature Festival.
Expectations of his arrival have high after Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot demanded the govt. for more security alerts for festival.
Salman, against whom Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of Iran had issued a fatwa in 1989 after his book published in1988 is also facing opposite reaction as ban of issuing him a visa by India’s top Islamic seminary Darul Uloom Deoband.
They sought that the author had hurt feelings of Muslims people by his Novel in the past.
As per source report, in a meeting that is being held by Gehlot with Home Minister P Chidambaram on the issue related to Rushdie’s arrival in India, all the fact is under the pressure of Muslim league people of Rajasthan that did not want Rushdie to come on Jaipur Festival that started from January 20-24.
Rushdie’s visit at the time of assembly election would really build much tragedy over the state and it comes in a result of huge aggressive response of people that may be of explosive or verbal.
Talking to Media after meeting, Gehlot said,”I don’t have any official information about whether Rushdie is coming or not. There is no official communication to us… There is a reaction among the locals, they don’t want Salman to come.”
However Rushdie is not presented on the first day of festival as having no space in his schedule on same day as well as on the festival’s website no one event for him is defined. But it cleared that he is visiting the Festival.
As per Festival Director Namita Gokhale told reporters, “Salman Rushdie is attending the Jaipur Literature Festival, but he will not be there on the opening day.”
No one can rescue him for visit in India, also not govt. as he is a Person of Indian Origin (PIO). But Muslim people, whose sentiments will hurt after his arrival, will surely fact to think otherwise it may create a big violent situation in the whole state.
