Assam Police have intensified security arrangements after intelligence inputs that the anti-dialogue faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) led by Paresh Baruah alias Paresh Asom might try to attack police and security forces in the state.
The developments assume significance as the outfit had triggered two blasts in less than a week’s time – on last Saturday in Paltan Bazar area of Guwahati and at Doomdooma area in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district – killing one security personnel and injuring 25 others. Read more
Amid gunfiring between Naxals and the CRPF personnel in Chhattisgarh at least seven tribals, including minors, were killed in encounter as per Congress report, for that Home Minister P Chidambaram has expressed “deeply sorry”, but claimed a “transparent” role of CPRF.

With a landmine blast, this time suspected Naxalites attacked on CRPF jawans, killing 15 personnel dead and many injured near Pushtola in Gadchiroli district of eastern Maharashtra on Tuesday.
The blast was triggered while the troops belonging to the to the CRPF’s 192 Battalion were moving from Pushtola to Gatta in a bus. It is said that they were dominating the area for some specific operational information when bus hit a landmine fitted by Naxalites, died them on-the-spot, CRPF officials source said.
However Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra borders Andhra Pradesh is one of the major Maoist isolated area. Thereby, any relief and rescue to reach the area immediately is more difficult. Read more
